The boss offered to pick us up lunch last week and we decided to try this place as it has developed a little bit of local fame over the years for how good the burgers are. I decided on the bleu cheese juicy lucy and fries. The side of coleslaw was the best thing i ate from that lunch. The bun and bleu cheese that was on top of the burger was good. The cheese inside melted all out. The burger meat itself lacked flavor and was a little on the dry side. It was approx 10.00 per person to eat lunch. They do have a large menu with some other options. I will try something other than a burger next time.

I went to the 5-8 Grill and Tap for lunch and it was just ok. The sign by the door said "seat yourself". So I found a booth and did as instructed. But then I started to worry. I was looking around and there wasn't anyone really working to notice me. I started looking at guests and no one actually had food in front of them.... panic set in. I only have an hour lunch break! Suddenly a guy appeared and was very friendly. (Thank goodness) I wasted no time and ordered straight away. Since no one had food in front of them, I decided a Lucy was out due to time constraints and ordered the Montana Jack burger ($9.25). It was supposed to have crumbled blue cheese, chipotle mayo, shredded lettuce and 'famous' onion straws on it. It also came with pickles (bleh) and raw onion on it but neither were listed on the menu. I SO wanted to love this burger. It was nothing to write home about, nothing special - just a burger. Actually, that's a lie. It was freaking boring! I felt like it was missing something, only I can't tell you what it was missing. I dipped in ketchup, that didn't help. I dipped it mustard, that didn't help either. To be fair, I didn't think the ketchup or mustard *would* help. Not 5-8's fault, but there was a dude in the booth across from me talking SO loud which was annoying. Then he started staring at me so it was like I was having a conversation with him, but totally against my will.

First time at 5-8 in wsp, having the italian dunkers and cheese curds for starters, the Italian dunkers were decent, the cheese had a nice color to the top and the cheese was plentiful, a thing that could be improved is making the bottom cook longer to make it crispier. The curds were delicious, not your typical curds as the outside had a nice crunch while the inside had the melty cheese. The fries are pretty good, they're pretty consistent, with the majority being crunchy on the outside and soft and warm on the outside, there were a few that were all crunch but that is to be expected with a batch. The juicy lucy was pretty good, the patty had a nice char to it and the cheese was melted all the way. Overall good although the pickles can become over bearing so possibly using one less pickle, and seasoning the patty better. Overall it was a nice experience, food was good, service was good as our waitress came to the table enough times to not be intruding or neglectful. I give it a solid B+..

The most important reason to come here is for the Broasted chicken. We are very glad that we don't have to drive down to Faribault for it anymore. Yes, we drove down there because no one up here did it right. Things to NOT try here: The egg/spring rolls (can't remember what they're called), and the potato bombs. Bombs is the operative word here: Yuck! They do their burgers right and the kids' menu seems to work just fine for our boy. It's not too difficult to get into or out of the parking lot, despite it being on Robert Street. We're glad to have a real restaurant on the strip.

Definitely legit family burger joint. Really nice service, good menu of options. Been here several times and always had great service, a tasty meal, and will definitely be back. The chili is tasty, had a few different burgers, they were all good. Check it out!

Sunday the wife and I stopped in the 5-8 for lunch. Tony was bar tending and he was our server. He did a great job the beer was ice cold. The service was superb we ordered the bacon burger it was good the meat was cooked to perfection and the buns were good. the onion rings were excellent they tasted fresh. like they were fried in clean oil and the onions tasted fresh too and where not limp from being in the cooler for months. Over all the service was great and the food tasted nice and fresh and the buns were not soggy. The only issue i had with the place is the kids.. ohh man i did not realize it was a family style bar.. i would expect that the people with kids would stay in the actual dining area and not in the bar area but well i dont know. There were lots of pouting kids and random kid stuff that kinda drives people away from bars but other than that my experience was good at the place. Keep up the good work guys

This is a great new addition to Robert Street, The bar is small and cozy and the dining room is quite large, The patio is really nice even though it is right there on Robert Street. The fence makes Robert disappear and it is really quite nice. The staff is friendly, capable and fun to be around. The menu has a good selection of family food. The broasted chicken and various gravies are incredible. I haven't tried any of the many Juicy Lucy's but I have seen them and they look wonderful.

Boyfriend and I came here for lunch couple of days ago for the famous juicy lucy burger. The place has a calm feel, it wasn't too busy and the food didn't take too long to get to us. I have to be honest though, I expected a lot more than what I got. The burger was a little dry even though it's stuffed with cheese and ham (I had the bleu one, boyfriend had the pit one with bacon). Fries were kind of mediocre but the side coleslaw was delicious. However I was impressed with the fried onions appetizer. It was a giant basket of them for a really good price. All in all, I might come back but I don't think I will go for the juicy lucy again, there's a lot more on the menu that sounds good though that I'd like to try. I feel that the prices are a bit too high for the lower quality food. Not even the presentation is nice but it's okay comfort food.

If I order some food, say a burger, because of a fun ingredient, say onion crisps, and the food comes without part of what I ordered, I believe the restaurant should go out of their way to apologize. I'm not asking for a free meal, how about taking off a soda? My family of 3 spent $7.50 on soda- that sucks. I usually never buy pop out to eat but i did. The food wasn't awesome. The fries where fine, the burgers weren't. I'd rather have had a DQ burger. I have more to add? But I don't want to be mean. The buns were good, the small kind.

Gave it 2 tries. Very unimpressed. Food was way over cooked twice, bartender agreed and apologized. This place wont be open for long!

I'd love to review the food, but I can't, because after nearly an hour of waiting, we discovered our waitress had forgotten us and never sent our order to the kitchen. We suspected something was amiss when the booth behind us, who were seated well after us, not only got their food before us, but ate and got their check while we were still waiting. We had ordered similar items (burgers and Juicy Lucys) so it wasn't a matter of one food taking longer to cook. We've both worked in restaurants and in service industries. We get that mistakes happen. But when they do, you own up to them. You try to make them right. During the entire time we were waiting for our food, neither the waitress or the hostess checked in on us once, not to apologize for the wait, not to see if they could get us an appetizer to hold us over until our food arrived, not even to see if we needed a refill on our drinks. In fact, they seemed to be conspicuously avoiding our table. The place is tiny so we weren't exactly hard to spot. We finally got ready to go, practically had to tackle the hostess to tell her we were leaving and why. At this point the hostess claimed there was a problem in the kitchen and had JUST put our order in. (Obviously, our food was not yet being prepared). By now we were well past an hour from the time we were seated, so we paid for our drinks (iced tea and water) and left for the restaurant next door. Maybe they have good food, but if they value our business so little we will not be going back to try it.

Overcooked burger and unseasoned broaster chicken that was quite pale in appearance. This place will be gone in a year or two tops. It's a shame as I've never heard a bad thing about the original location.

We met my mother's cousin here for lunch as she had raved about it before we came back to visit; of course, I did not want any national chains. I have a new place to come back to & I think this competes well with Galliger's, B-52, & others (see my reviews.) The brat juicy lucy is to die for with two brat paddys stuffed with grier cheese & topped with sour kraut, kecup, & mustard on a pretzle bun. The paddys are juicy & sour kraut fresh; the cheese is savery & the condiments compliment everything. The bun is fresh. Our servers, A young woman whose name we did not get & another one; Sandy, were wonderful, allowing us to brause at our leisure & answering any questions & not to mention refilling our water promptly. I loved their sense of humor as well. The jojoes which nare wedge fries are crispy & greasless; I could really taste the potatoey goodness; I had a little of my mother's sweet potato fries which were equally good, though the blue marshmellow sauce was too sweet. I can hardly wait to come back & try more next time including their chocolate cake & ice cream sandwich. So, for friendly service in a casual atmosphere with excellent food to boot, 5-8 cannot be beat. Keep up the good work guys.

I don' t know if its just Minnesota nice but the place was bad! We went Sunday night just to try it and it was bad! Food was cold the juicy lucy was not cheese melting out of it like they say! I will not go there again and we spent 40.00 dollars what a waste of time this was! Sorry I saw some good reviews but either bad night or its already losing its touch! Maybe the boss is not watching!

We went on a late Friday afternoon and it was dead. However, I was pleasantly surprised. The service (except for the waiter forgetting silverware, and then taking 5 minutes to return with it) was very good. Impressive beer list with local and regional craft beer (Deschutes Fresh Squeezed IPA). The food was very good, Jucy Lucys on par with Matt's and The Nook, pretty good Fries and excellent Onion Rings. Definitely the best place in the area to grab a Jucy Lucy. Would I leave my Hood in Mac Groveland for a Lucy with The Nook and Blue Door Pub just around the bend? No, but if I am ever in the WSP/IGH area I definitely will return.

I have it two stars because it wasn't the worst place I have ever eaten. I had last been to the 5*8 on Cedar a few years ago and hadn't been back because I was so disappointed with the meal. We decided to give this newer outpost on Robert a chance. Our appetizer never came. The situation was never rectified nor apologized for even when we pointed it out, and it showed up on our original bill. Our food cold. The burgers were dry. The server was impossible to flag down and never checked back to see if we needed anything else. Next time I want a cheese filled burger I'll head across the High Bridge and go to Shamrock's on W 7th. MUCH better food and service.

For all the hype this place has over their Juicy Lucy I was not all that impressed. It was good and everything but for the price there are lots of places that are just as good or better and you don't have tip wait staff too. This place also charges extra for practically everything like sauces and lettuce for the burger most restaurants have at no extra cost. Restaurants make money on add-ons and they need to make money and I get that but this was a bit excessive. Aside from this the staff was friendly and the rest of the food was okay.
